Field Visit to S.N. School of Communication

We went on an educational visit to Sarojini Naidu School of Communication, University of Hyderabad 31 August 2016. Prof. Vinod Pavarala, the Dean of the school addressed the students with a brief history of the school and its evolution, the various courses offered there and also introduced them to the other faculty and technical staff members. Prof. Pavarala stressed on how important it is to spread the ethos of the school by facilitating a holistic space where “thinking-doers” and “doing-thinkers” can emerge. He encouraged the students to pursue higher studies and addressed their queries.¬†Other faculty members, Prof. Kanchan K. Malik & Dr. Madhavi Ravi Kumar also interacted with the students and explained them about various specialized courses like News media and Convergent journalism, and also exposed them to placement records and internship opportunities.

The students also visited the Bol Hyderabad 90.4 FM campus Radio Station and interacted with the Station Co-ordinator  and state-of-the-art Television Production Studio of S.N.School where Ramesh Kumar, the Studio In-charge explained them about the technical operations and equipment maintenance.

Current status of Radio: Presentation

Shivangi Roy of B.A. Mass Comm 2 year explained through a PPT presentation, the current status of Radio in India. It was an interactive session where students discussed about the programs featured on Radio presently.


Celebrating our Ethnicities

Right after the Independence day, We celebrated Ethnic day in our college on 16 August 2016. All the students and teachers wore traditional clothes and embraced their ethnicities. It was a colourful day to see everyone in sarees, dhotis, lungis, lehengas, shewanis etc. The foreign students, dressed up in their different ethnic clothes, were a pleasure to see. It was a celebration of different cultural identities and getting back in touch with our roots. We enjoyed the ambiance of a multi-cultural environment in the college.

A stroll into the heart of Hyderabad

Hyderabad boasts of some of the oldest and most spectacular historical monuments in India, a glorious history and a rich art and culture that is world famous.

We went on a Heritage photo walk on the morning of 6 August 2016. Mr. Ghiasuddin Akbar, renowned Historian and Heritage Conservation activist, facilitated the walk. We were taken to a number of heritage structures around Charminar and explained about the rich heritage of the city and also the need to conserve them in the future.

Chat with Chatterbox Chaitu – Red FM 93.5

We went on a field trip to the 93.5 Red FM radio station at Banjara Hills on 12 August 2016.

We had an interactive session with national award-winning Radio Jockey, Chaitanya Basava, popularly known as Chatterbox Chaitu.
He illustrated the production and programming workflow of their office, and showed us a demonstration of the RJ talk. He engaged the inquisitive bunch with an inspiring conversation and quirky sense of humor.

Field Visit to Radio City 91.1 FM

The final Year B.A. Mass Communication students went on an educational field trip to Radio City 91.1 on 20th of July.They had an interactive session with Mr. Arjun, Program Manager who explained to them about the production workflow in great details and shared his insights on the various career opportunities in the field. They also got an opportunity to have a look at how the Radio Jockey prepares to go on air.
